Meet the players who have played less minutes in this team
As the season progresses, the burden of matches becomes larger and resource management by technicians has an even more important role. Depending on how players are distributed it will influence in the chances of winning more tournaments.
This is precisely what Ernesto Valverde, coach of FC Barcelona, is trying to do. However, in the words of coach himself, this is the most unpleasant part of his job because "there will always be someone unhappy because of the little play."
At this point in the season, the club has already played 3,780 official minutes. Still, some players have not yet reached the 1,000 minutes of play. In this sense, it would not be strange that these athletes were thinking about changing their team for next summer. For example, this is the case of Denis Suárez, Aleix Vidal, and Paco Alcacer, who observe that their contribution to the team has little weight.
This is the scenario for Jasper Cillessen, although in the case of the Dutch, the situation was expected. Obviously, it is important to highlight that in this group there are not included the winter signings, Coutinho and Yerry Mina, nor is Ousmane Dembele included, who has spent much of the season out because of an injury.
Denis Suárez (923 minutes)
Suarez is the one who most minutes has played in this group. However, the player is the one who has more reasons to think about changing teams. Suarez has spent 10 games in a row without having participated, despite having been on the bench in some of them. The irruption of Coutinho, the recovery of Dembélé Valverde, and the bet for Paulinho have relegated Suarez to a secondary role within the team.
Aleix Vidal (918 minutes)
The player was about to imitate Deulofeu and go in the winter. The decision to stay has been rewarded with more minutes. Vidal has been present in 11 of the last 12 matches of the team, playing minutes in five of them. The player also has to compete with Dembélé for a spot on the right wing, although it seems that Valverde takes him into account. With the Semedo’s injury, Vidal could regain the role in the right - back spot, although the coach sees him as an attacker.
André Gomes (915 minutes)
It is surprising that a player, who is often seen in the notice or in the starting lineup, has played so few minutes. Within this group, Gomes is the one who has participated in most matches (23). He has the confidence of Valverde, although its performance fails to convince.
Paco Alcácer (776 minutes)
Alcacer has been affected by the high level exhibited by Messi and Luis Suarez. Alcacer is the player with fewer minutes in the first team. Although he has played several matches, each of them he has played only in the final minutes.
