Cannes Festival: Chile takes the spotlight

Listen this article

The Chilean cinematography has been present at the Cannes Film Festival since 2010. It has used this famous event as a springboard in aims to jump to new markets and grow stronger within the European film industry. In the specific case of Chile, Cannes is just the starting point. As explained by Constanza Arena, the CinemaChile director, they launch their film catalogs filled with new offers in the hopes that their movies will achieve international recognition.

With 24 producers and more than 100 projects in different stages of production in the market, and three feature films and a short film at the festival, the country has published diverse offers within its large volume production, especially for such a small country.

In the 70th edition of the festival, the South American country is present with the film "La novia del desierto", a co-production with Argentina and authored by the Argentineans Cecilia Atán and Valeria Pivato

This is the perfect chance for the Hispanic film industry to survive and to eventually excel internationally. This is especially admirable considering that Latin America has limited resources when it goes to exploring the arts.
