The second golf major of the year is approaching, the 2022 PGA Championship will start on Thursday the 19th of this month. The event, which will take place at the Southern Hills Country Club, will feature the best international golfers.

Today at LatinAmerican Post we want to give you the names of those who have the best chance of winning this prestigious event, so that you can prepare for it.

Colin Morikawa

This American is number 3 in the world and his recent results position him as a candidate in this championship.  Morikawa has been an example of consistency since last year, having been in the top 10 in the last 4 majors he has participated in. If there is a time for you to achieve success, this is it.

Scottie Scheffler

The World No. 1 is a heavy favorite to win this time around and not for lack of reason. Not only did he win the Masters, the other major held this year, but he's also claimed victories in four other championships this year: the WGC – Dell Technologies Match Play, the Arnold Palmar Invitational and the WM Phoenix Open. Scheffler has described the PGA Championship course as “his favorite in the world” and with his winning streak on, it's impossible to rule him out as the event's top contender.

Jon Rahm

The Spaniard has been in golf's top 10 for so long that it's hard to rule him out as a candidate to win it all in this event. Last year he won the US Open and this year he has had a couple of important results, such as his victory in the Mexican open and his second place in the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Rahm has more years of experience than Scheffler and Morikawa and this could be his chance to start a winning streak this year.

Latinos who could show us something

There are not many representatives from Latin America that will participate in this PGA Championship and, honestly, their probability of leaving a mark in the event is not that high. However, golf is a sport of surprises and we would not be doing our duty if we failed to mention them.

On this occasion, the three names that sound the most on this side of the continent are Joaquin Niemann, Abraham Ancer and Sebastían Muñoz. From Chile, Mexico and Colombia respectively, these players will have the opportunity to compete for the major.

Niemann is the one with the best chances of this group. This year he won the Genesis Invitational and had two top 10 finishes at the Saudi International and the Farmers International Open.

Mexican Ancer honestly hasn't had the best start to the year, with just two top 10 finishes in the Saudi International and WGC – Dell Technologies Match Play.

Finally, we have the Colombian Sebastián Muñoz, who has a very bipolar game. Sometimes he has great days and sometimes nothing seems to go his way. His best results this year was a third-place finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson.
