The expectations generated by the Oscar awards have no comparison. Year after year, millions of fans and professional critics prepare in advance to enjoy one of the most important galas in the film industry, where in the end everything can be summed up in a specific category: Best Picture. And it is that with the passage of time, seeing these winners after their premiere on the big screen has become a little easier thanks to the different streaming platforms.

In fact, it is precisely because of the "war" that these services have that such productions are more accessible to obtain; but, of course, everything has its price. If you are one of those who at this point still does not know which streaming platform to acquire, in this article we will help you with a list of Oscar-winning films in their main category. In addition, it is important to mention that some titles can be seen on up to two different platforms, but it is also likely that they will not be available for certain Latin American countries.

Hulu

Although Hulu is not one of the most popular streaming platforms in Latin America, it is worth mentioning that its catalog has a varied programming. Precisely, its biggest and most exclusive attraction is "Nomadland", an Oscar-winning film in 2021. The film, which also won two other statuettes (Best Director and Best Actress), tells the story of a woman who, after losing her job, decides to sell her few belongings and buy a van to travel around the country in search of a job and also live as a nomad

Netflix

It is no secret to anyone that Netflix is usually among the priorities of people looking to purchase a streaming service, and that is because it has more subscribers than its competitors. Although over time it has had to cancel several titles, in recent years it has been characterized not only by producing original films, but also by acquiring the rights of several Oscar winners.

Among its extensive catalog we can find "Parasites" (2020), a South Korean film with strong social criticism; "The Hurt Locker" (2010), an intense plot that recounts the day-to-day life of a US bomb squad in Iraq; and "Gladiator" (2001), a movie classic with Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix playing characters from the Roman Empire.

hbo max

Although this platform was only launched in 2020, the purpose of its creation was simply to host all the content of HBO's premium channels, as well as productions from WarnerMedia and other companies. All this resulted in the inclusion of a large number of Oscar-winning films.

In that sense, among the titles that have won a golden statuette in the last decade we have "Green Book" (2019), a film based on a trip made by musician Don Shirley and actor Tony Lip in the 60's; "Moonlight" (2017), a raw drama that narrates the life of an African-American boy and his difficulties in relating to his surroundings; "Argo" (2013), a genius recounting how six American diplomats were rescued during the Iranian hostage crisis in the 1980s; and "The King's Speech" (2011) , a British plot about the life of Duke George VI of the United Kingdom.

Likewise, on this platform you can also enjoy other classic winners such as "The Departed" (2007), "The Lord of the Ring: The Return of the King" (2004), "Chicago" (2003), "A Beautiful Mind" (2002), and "American Beauty" (2000).

They primarily offer original content from their studios, but that hasn't stopped them from grabbing the rights to a host of Best Picture Oscar-winning titles, including such classics as "Slumdog Millionaire" (2009), "No Country for Old Men" (2008), "Crash" (2006) and "Million Dollar Baby" (2005).

But if what you are looking for are those winners of the last decade, you will find "The Shape of Water" (2018), the romantic fantasy that gave Guillermo del Toro his first Oscar as director; "Spotlight" (2016), a true drama based on a newspaper that unmasked a series of sexual abuse of several priests; "Birdman" (2015), a fun play that gave three Oscars to Alejandro González Iñárritu; "12 Years a Slave" (2014), which chronicles the life of an African-American mulatto who was kidnapped and sold into slavery; and "The Artist" (2012), a French film that pays homage to silent black-and-white cinema.

And the 2022 Oscar nominees?

On this occasion, there are two streaming platforms that have more productions nominated for Best Picture at the 2022 Oscars: Netflix and HBO Max. While the former has "Don't Look Up" and "The Power of the Dog" in its catalogue; in the second you can enjoy "King Richard", "Dune" and soon "Nightmare Alley".

For its part, the other half of the nominees this year are spread across various streaming services.
