As we all know, Netflix is one of the platforms that people consume the most on a daily basis. And the thing is that its series, films and documentaries are so varied and of high quality that sometimes it is difficult to choose one in our spare time. Also, how many times have we not chosen one of these with the intention of seeing a well-known Latin artist? Although most of the productions are American, it should be noted that the streaming giant is betting heavily on making original content in Latin America.

Given this, we leave you the first part of this extensive list of Latin American actors and actresses that you will be able to see on Netflix, either in movies or series. How many of them do you follow?

Cecilia Suarez

One of the Mexican actresses who enjoys great international recognition. Although her premiere was on TV in 1997 with My Little Traviesa , her most recognized role came with the series Capadocia (2008-2012). To this should be added her productions on the big screen such as I do not know whether to cut my veins or leave them long (2013), Elvira, I would give you my life but I'm using it (2014) and The immoral life of the ideal couple (2016), all of them directed by Manolo Caro. You can see Suárez in La Casa de las Flores playing Paulina, Virginia's eldest daughter (Verónica Castro).

Edgar Ramirez

The popular "Cacique" of Venezuela is the most acclaimed figure in his country. His Hollywood career took off in a big way after his discreet -but very good- performances in Domino (2005) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), giving way to titles such as Clash of the Titans (2012), Free us from Evil (2014), Point of Break (2015) and Manos de Piedra (2016). His debut on Netlfix came in 2017 with Bright and since then you can see him in other great productions of the platform such as La Red Avispa (2019) and Los Últimos Días del Crimen (2020).

Isabella Gomez

She is one of the representatives of Colombia on Netflix. The young actress born in Medellín emigrated to Florida when she was just 10 years old, seeking to fulfill her dream, which she has more than achieved. She had an important role in the series Matador (2014), but her arrival on the streaming platform was in 2017 with One Day at a Time, where she plays a lesbian teenager who defends progressive causes. This fabulous sitcom is currently in its fourth season.

Diego Luna

What to say about Diego? His great career speaks for itself. The Mexican has not only stood out in great Mexican films but also in the United States. From his long repertoire, we can mention Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Elysium (2013), or La Terminal (2004). In addition to seeing him on Narcos: México, giving life to the character of Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, it is worth mentioning that he will return to Netflix as creator, producer, and director of the series Todo Va a Estar Bien.

Dascha Polanco

The one born in the Dominican Republic played the recluse, Dayanara Díaz, in the series Orange is the New Black (2013-2019).  Thanks to the talent demonstrated there, Dascha appeared in 2019 in two Netflix projects: the Russian Doll series and made a cameo in the film The Irishman.

Diego Boneta

Talking about Latino actors on Netflix and not mentioning Diego Boneta would be a very serious mistake. The Mexican has developed a wonderful career in the United States with films such as Terminator Dark Fate (2019) and in renowned series such as Scream Queens , Pretty Little Liars and 90210. However, in 2018 he had the unique opportunity to play Luis Miguel in his adulthood in the popular Luis Miguel, the series . For those who were left wanting to see more, the second season will premiere in May 2021.

Christian Serratos

Although this fabulous actress was born in the United States, her mother is of Mexican descent. Although very few remember her for her small role in the Twilight films, Serratos rose to fame for the character of Rosita in the mega-popular series The Walking Dead. Now she must face a great challenge on Netflix with Selena, the series, where she will play the always loved and remembered singer Selena Quintanilla.

Jan Luis Castellanos

The Caribbean also says present! Born in the Dominican Republic in 1995 but living in the United States since he was 8 years old, this promising actor has started his career in television series. He had his first participation in Runaways (2018), which was the impetus to arrive at Netflix for the fourth and final season of 13 Reasons Why. Will we see it on the big screen very soon?

Kate del Castillo

Ungovernable! This is the Mexican actress that you can see in the series of the same name and that already has three seasons. In an ingenious strategy by Netflix, the streaming company is increasing its original productions in Latin America based on the popularity of figures of this stature. And it is that in addition to seeing her in Ingobernable, Kate is also part of the documentary When I met Chapo, which premiered in October 2017.

Wagner Moura

The Brazilian actor rose to stardom in 2007 with one of the best films in his country: Tropa de Elite. Thanks to that and his great talent for interpreting different types of characters, Moura had the opportunity on Netflix to give life to Pablo Escobar in the first two seasons of the Narcos series (2015-2016). To this, we can also add La Red Avispa, another great production from the streaming giant.
