For work, study, or pleasure, millions of people go to airports to board a flight that takes them to their destination. Following a strict protocol due to health reasons due to the presence of Covid-19, airlines have adapted their procedures, minimizing the probability of contagion for employees and users. In any case, there is a degree of responsibility on the part of passengers to contribute to safety and health both prior to and during the flight, and even after landing at their point of arrival. If you are planning to take a trip, we recommend that you read these tips.

If you feel bad, give notice. Either prior to check-in or take-off and even during the flight, it is recommended to notify the available personnel of any discomfort. Even when the illness that afflicts you does not belong to the symptoms known as probable positive for Covid-19, your body is giving you a warning of vulnerability. In case you need to reschedule your departure, this will always be a better option than flying in questionable health. Remember that your situation could worsen during your trip, and when you arrive at your destination, you could be denied entry, forcing you to return to the point of origin.

Be sure to review the necessary documentation to enter your destination. The protocols and requirements to enter different countries vary over time. These are adapted according to new updates on Covid-19 and in case of not complying with them, entry will be denied. Also, keep in mind that the place of origin or the countries that you have visited in the days prior to your arrival can also condition your entry.

Airline employees receive constant notifications about these restrictions, so you could be denied boarding if you do not inform yourself properly. If you cannot find enough official information on the internet, contact the consulate or embassy of the destination country, and ask for a list in writing, taking into account your particular situation.

Minimize physical contact whenever possible. Online check-in and luggage tag printing are a great advantage to keep your distance from other people within the airport. In any case, it is extremely important that you make sure that this is enough, and that you should not show up at the counter of your airline despite having done so. Contact your carrier, or ask at the airport if it is necessary to do so. Please note that the availability of online self-service differs depending on the protocols of each company.

Be aware that the first filter against contagion is yourself. Keep your sanitary mask on at all times, both at the airport and during the flight. In addition to acting as a filter, they are a constant reminder to avoid putting our hands to our eyes, nose, and mouth. It is advisable to have a personal sanitizer with you as well. Although there are protocol hygiene facilities, they may not be nearby in the event of unforeseen contact.
