10 years ago, “No More Dream” was, paradoxically, the song that allowed BTS to dream of becoming the most important Kpop group in history. This Tuesday, June 13, their tenth anniversary was celebrated and, from their native South Korea, a special celebration will be held in each country they reach.

In 2013 the conquest of the ARMY for the most privileged places in the music industry began. Bang Si-hyuk as president of BigHit Music label, composer and executive producer was in charge of RM (Kim Namjoon), Jin (Kim Seokjin), Suga (Min Yoongi), J-Hope (Jung Hoseok), Jimin (Jimin Park ), V (Kim Taehyung) and Jungkook (Jungkook Jeon) meet to form the group.

With a sound that wanders between pop, electronica and hip hop, BTS managed to establish a brand that catapulted them to global stardom. To the melody and the millimeter choreographies of the video clips, the introspection in several of their lyrics is added, which made the powerful connection with their followers. Many of the messages in their songs point to the care of mental health and self-esteem.

There are a total of nine studio albums, numerous of them with platinum certifications. Halsey, Coldplay, Sia, Steve Aoki, Nicki Minaj, Charlie XCX and even Becky G have been some of the group's most memorable collaborations. "My Universe", "Butter" or "Dynamite" are the main hits of BTS that have had massive expansion worldwide.

Anniversary celebration

From this Tuesday began the takeover of the ARMY in the main cities of the world to celebrate the first 10 years of BTS's career. In Seoul, the most emblematic sites were illuminated in purple, the official color of the group. The members of BTS are honorary ambassadors of their country.

However, the big event will take place next Saturday, June 17. That day, the 'BTS FESTA' will be held, an event that will have the participation of two of the members of the Kpop band: Namjoon and Jungkook. There will also be various activities dedicated to the ARMY at the Yeouido Hangang Park in Seoul, which will be broadcast by 'streaming' to every corner of the world.

Since Monday, June 12, the hashtag #10yearswithBTS has been a global trend and several Latin American countries began to demonstrate with their celebrations. There is the case of Colombia, where a billboard referring to the anniversary was projected on the stage of the Movistar Arena in Bogotá. In Peru there was a meeting of the ARMY in the Parque de Las Aguas in Lima with activities and projections of images of the group. During the remainder of this week and part of the next, the celebration will continue with different manifestations in the world.

BTS premiered the song "Take two" last week, taking advantage of the proximity they had with the anniversary of their 10-year career.

Other massive celebrations in Kpop

The Kpop phenomenon began in the late nineties, and there have been many groups that have contributed to the expansion of the genre in the world. A key date is August 13, World Kpop Day. For this day, those who listen to the main groups do activities around their favorite groups. Many people use the red and blue bands as a badge of representation to the South Korean flag, where it all started.

Generally, big groups like Super Junior, which is part of the second generation of Kpop,   they celebrate their anniversaries with streaming broadcasts and fandom gatherings in different parts of the world. Blackpink, which together with BTS are currently the most important groups in the genre, celebrated their last anniversary with the teaser for "Pink Venom", the album with which they officially returned.

In addition to the 'fandoms' meetings at specific points in each city, Kpop bands often interact with them via streaming. They also do activities such as raising funds for charity.

In the band's networks you can follow the streaming that will be done, join the celebration from Latin America!
