South America is one of the most attractive destinations for travelers from all over the world, even for those who already live here. This region is so exuberant and complete that the same latinos want to discover it to its full potential. From Cabo de la Vela to Patagonia, South America has it all: deserts, mountains, snow, forests, and jungle. Some of the countries that attract the most attention due to their nature and plans are Colombia, Chile, Brazil, and Peru.

Whether you want to travel on your next vacation, or you want to plan a tour of one of these wonderful countries in advance, here we tell you which are the best months to travel to one of the most striking destinations in South America according to its climate, prices, and the flow of tourists.

Colombia

Broadly speaking, Colombia has two climatic seasons: the dry and the rainy. In the latter, the rains are short but abundant. It is usually in the months of April, May, October, and November. But keep in mind that this country has varied climates depending on the geography of its different regions.

If you want to visit the Andes, you will find the best weather in the months of January, February, March, April, August, and September. In the Caribbean, the weather is best enjoyed in December, January, February, March, and April. While if your destination is the Amazon, you should keep in mind that this region is humid all year round, so it is better to go in the dry season; June and July are the months with the best weather to travel.

Now, regarding prices and tourist flow, the high season is from December to March, the average from April to September and the low season from October to November. With all this in mind, the best months to visit Colombia would be August and September.

Chili

Chile, being located in the Southern Hemisphere, has the four seasons, so visiting it depends a lot on the season and the place you want to enjoy. For example, summer is favorable in the north of the country from December to March. In addition to this, during the months of January, February, March, November and December, 65% of the Chilean territory has a pleasant climate. It is not recommended to travel between June and August, as the rains abound.

Regarding prices and tourist flow, the high season occurs between the months of December, January, and February; the average, in November; and the season of low demand, from March to October. Thus, the best months to travel to Chile would be March, April, September, and October.

Brazil

Summer in Brazil runs from December to March and the further north you go the hotter the weather. Although a hot weather can attract a lot of attention, it must be taken into account that too high a climate can become unbearable to get to know the cities. The best months to go in terms of weather are between May and September, as temperatures drop in the southern cone between April and October, so the weather allows you to explore the country.

The prices and the flow of tourists are high in the months between December and March and also July, the middle season is April and October, and the low season is May and September. In this order of ideas, the best months to travel to Brazil are September and October, since the highly tourist seasons are avoided and the country can be enjoyed with a climate that does not overwhelm the routes you take. Unless, of course, you want to spend the carnival season there, which is very attractive to many tourists (which, of course, increases prices). In that case, you must travel in the month of February.

Peru

To travel to Peru, you have to be very prepared, because the climate varies according to the altitude in which you are. Since tourism in Peru revolves around hiking, it is best to bring a variety of clothing to enjoy all that this country has to offer. However, it must be taken into account that the dry season of the year runs from June to September.

The high season, that is, the one with the highest flow of tourists and therefore the most expensive, runs from June to August. The average is from March to May and from September to November. Finally, the dates of low demand are from December to February. With this in mind, the best months to enjoy Peru are December, January and February, since costs are low, tourist flow is low and temperatures are neither very high nor very low, so expeditions are easier.
