There's no better way to kick off 2023 than with one of the best award shows in the film and television industry. The Golden Globes met at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles with its 80th edition, where the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognized directors, actors, and actresses for their work in 2022.

After the scandals due to corruption and lack of diversity in 2021, as well as the non-broadcast on television in 2022, this ceremony was a somewhat controversial event for some. New, avant-garde and controversial styles were the appetizer for a ceremony that will remain in the memories of many since a large part of that blame were due to the contribution of the different designers who excelled with their creations. The Latin American touch was present from beginning to end. As expected, Salma Hayek wowed the crowd with her 1930s-style glamour. Her silver-embroidered Jessica Chastain gown with a mid-arm neckline accentuated her incredible figure, free of excess jewelry.

In turn, Jenna Ortega, one of the actresses of the moment, brought out her good eye for fashion. On the red carpet at the Golden Globes, she appeared in a sand-colored dress from the Gucci house's spring-summer 2023 collection. As expected, the competition in the cinema line was quite close. In the preview, everything seemed to indicate that "The Banshees of Inisherin" (available via streaming on Hulu) would sweep its 8 nominations, but the truth is that the film directed by Martin McDonagh only won the Best Musical or Comedy Film awards. , Best Screenplay, and Best Actor (for Colin Farrell).

For its part, "The Fabelmans" (available on Peacock) won two of the most important awards at the Golden Globes: Best Drama Film and Best Director. Steven Spielberg's film is a semi-autobiography of his early life told through fictional characters.

In turn, the science fiction comedy "Everything Everywhere All at Once" made it clear that it was one of the best movies of 2022. Of the six nominations, they won two: Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy (Michelle Yeoh) and Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan).

Regarding the awards in the acting category, Austin Butler won the award for Best Drama Actor for his role as Elvis Presley in the film "Elvis" (HBO Max); actress Cate Blanchett did the same after her performance in the dramatic movie "TÁR" (Peacock); while Angela Bassett was the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" (Disney+).

And on television?

Variety in television series was the order of the day. But while almost all of them took an award to their record, "Abbott Elementary" ended up being the biggest winner of the night. The original ABC production, which can be seen streaming on Star+, won three of its five nominations: Best Musical or Comedy Series, Best Comedy Actress (Quinta Brunson), and Best Supporting Actor (Tyler James Williams).

In turn, HBO was the streaming platform that received the most awards among all its productions. The success of the first season of "House of the Dragon" was demonstrated at the Golden Globes by winning the category of Best Drama Series. For its part, "The White Lotus" won the top prize for Best Miniseries, as well as the Best Supporting Actress award for Jennifer Coolidge. While Zendaya won best actress in a drama for "Euphoria."

Lastly, the acting categories also had representation from Hulu and Netflix. Kevin Costner (Paramount+'s "Yellowstone"), Jeremy Allen (Hulu's "The Bear"), and Evan Peters (Netflix's "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story") were the best actors in drama, comedy, and miniseries respectively. At the same time, Amanda Seyfried (Hulu's "The Dropout") and Julia Garner (Netflix's "Ozark") shone for best actress in a miniseries and supporting role respectively.
