Britney Spears has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making her one of the essential artists in history. She is the seventh most searched artist in the history of YouTube and her success continues to date. Since 2019 she has been on an artistic hiatus, due to legal conflicts. Thousands of fans created the #FreeBritney movement, which influenced the 2021 court ruling that frees her from her father's guardianship of her artistic rights.
