In 2018 we witnessed a series that caught millions of viewers following the events leading up to the murder of Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace. Now, three years later, we will be in the presence of a product that will bring to the big screen another event that shocked Italy and various parts of the world, the death of businessman Maurizio Gucci. Although director Ridley Scott has us used to science fiction films, in "House of Gucci" he will present something much more cruel and real that will break the rules of what we expect to see.

As many know, Gucci is one of the great Italian fashion brands, however, what few know is that at the end of the nineties it was marked by the murder of the founder's grandson, who at that time was the boss of the company. In "House of Gucci" we will be able to explore more clearly what the relationship was like between Maurizio, his ex-wife, and crime organizer Patrizia Reggiani, as well as the other members of one of the most powerful families in all of Italy.

The project led by Scott had been announced some time ago, and although everything seemed that the director was going to delay with the choice of the cast, he finally managed to reunite a series of actors and actresses who were winners and nominees of the Oscars. The characters that each of them will interpret are real people and with an interesting story that will be explained in this production that has a premiere date in November of this year.

"House of Gucci": Who are its protagonists?

The story will focus on the relationship between Maurizio Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani, who will be played by Adam Driver and Lady Gaga respectively. Guccio Gucci's grandson, the founder of Gucci, was the one who was left in charge of the company, something that made him the most powerful man in fashion and the envy of his cousin Paolo. Maurizio married Patrizia and years later he left her for another woman, this being one of the reasons why she planned the crime in revenge. After the murder in 1995, Patrizia was convicted in the middle of a media trial where she was called the Black Widow.

Among the older actors will be Jeremy Irons and Al Pacino. On the one hand, the Briton will play Rodolfo Gucci, Maurizio's father and with whom he had a fairly close relationship. In fact, he refused to accept marriage to Patrizia because he did not consider her worthy of being part of the family. In turn, the American will play Aldo Gucci, Guccio's eldest son, and Rodolfo's brother. He was an important part in the growth and expansion of the brand, which led to his children not seeing with good eyes the division of the company in equal parts.

Likewise, actresses Salma Hayek and Camille Cottin will also have their share of relevance. The Mexican will be Pina Auriemma, a close friend of Patrizia and one of the accomplices of the murder that she would have organized along with other people. She was sentenced to 25 years in jail. For her part, the Frenchwoman will play Paola Franchi, Maurizio's girlfriend after he left Patrizia. During the trial, he confessed that he received threatening calls from Patrizia and that he constantly harassed her.

Last but not least, we have Jared Leto in the role of Paolo Gucci, Maurizio's cousin and creative director of the company. It was he who started a family war that almost ended everything because he thought he would become Gucci's boss. He even tried to accuse Maurizio of tax fraud just as he had done with his own father. It is worth noting that the transformation that Leto underwent to play his character earned him multiple accolades, something that has created high expectations to see his performance in the film in detail.

A story as real as it is twisted

"House of Gucci" will tell the story of a murder that shocked the whole of Italy by happening within one of the most renowned families in the fashion industry. The official synopsis of the film only shows us the tip of the iceberg by telling us "how it was that Patrizia Reggiani, ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, conspired to kill her husband and grandson of the renowned fashion designer Guccio Gucci". But how did all this start?

It was the year 1972 when Maurizio and Patrizia decided to get married and became one of the most important couples in fashion for more than a decade. However, in 1985 they began a long divorce process that left her with a grudge that increased when she learned that he intended to marry his new partner and that he had also inherited 50% of the company. From there, Patrizia began to devise her revenge plan with Pina Auriemma, a woman who had moved in with her in 1994 and who contacted the other guilty of the murder.

On March 27, 1995, Maurizio was on his way to his office when four bullet wounds ended his life. Several were the theories of the murder; as an international conspiracy, illicit deals went wrong, and even the family's own internal enmities, but none of that was able to solve the mystery. However, two years later, an anonymous informant was the one who gave the clue for the police to initiate a line of investigation that led them to Patrizia and everything she had devised, condemning her later to 29 years in prison in one of the trials. most media in history.
