Brian Tracy, author and international speaker on business and personal success, finds the answer to achieve any goal in an effective action plan.

The expert provides the following tips to create an effective action plan to achieve the life of your dreams.

1. Decide exactly what you want

Ambiguous objectives guarantee ambiguous results. Tracy recommends that you be more specific when thinking about what you really want to achieve. Thinking about improving your health, financial status, and happiness can give you an idea of the path you want to take. However, instead of being general, set a goal of exactly how much money you want, how much you would like to weigh, or what happiness means to you.

"You need to set goals that are multi-dimensional and for every part of your life to function like a well-oiled machine for goal setting and goal achievement," the speaker highlights.

Set unique goals for your health, career, finances, relationships, personal and professional development, and your community and spiritual growth. According to the expert, this will immediately put you in a separate category from people who have no idea what they honestly dream about.

"If you don't set clear and specific goals, you can't stop reaching them because they are so vague – this is one of the main reasons for failure," he warns.

2. Write your goal or objectives on paper

Tracy reveals an alarming fact: Only 3% of adults have written goals, while everyone else plans to write them down one day. "Success starts with a sheet of paper, a pen, and a few minutes of your time," he says.

You can start with the three-goal method. In less than a minute, write down your three most important goals in life right now as quickly as possible. Whatever the three goals you managed to write down, they are probably an accurate picture of what you want in life.

The author explains that when you write a goal, you are programming it in your subconscious mind and it activates a whole series of mental powers that will allow you to achieve much more than you ever dreamed of.

 3. Set a deadline

If it's a big goal, set a series of sub-deadlines. But what if you can't reach those goals on time? Set a new deadline. Remember, a deadline is just a rough estimate of when you'll make it. You can achieve your goal well in advance, or it will take much longer than expected.

This method will force you to achieve your goal by following a schedule. "There are no unreasonable goals, just unreasonable deadlines," says Tracy.

You now have a plan of action. Your next step is to stay in action, track your progress, and make adjustments along the way. He recommended doing something every day to move toward that goal.
