As it is Friday again, we have selected and summarized the five most relevant news in the entertainment world this week. Some good and some not so good, these are contradictory premieres on Netflix, celebrities protesting one of the most important news of the week and a fantasy tale to finish.

Netflix debuts Douglas and Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich

This week two productions with genre content were released on the streaming platform. On the one hand, comedian Hannah Gadsby returns with Douglas, a comedy special after her hit Nanete, in which she denounced many of the dynamics of the patriarchal system that she has been a victim of as a lesbian woman. On the other hand, the original Netflix documentary Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, premiered this Wednesday, which uncovers or tries to follow the corruption network that this deceased millionaire put together to cover up the prostitution network he managed while alive in one of his islands.

One of the news that shook the world the most this week was the murder of George Floyd, an African-American man killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis. This hate crime was filmed by a witness. The video lasts about ten minutes, with Floyd on the floor and the police officer kneeling on his neck. It can be clearly heard that the victim says he cannot breathe and pleads not to be killed. Finally, he remains motionless on the floor. This episode would have been the consequence, according to the official communication from the Minneapolis Police Department, of a falsified money report. The agent would have wanted to immobilize Floyd, who had medical problems or was allegedly under the influence of some substance. Since then, celebrities like Zöe Kravitz, Snoop Dogg and Michael Jordan have expressed solidarity with the George Floyd family and with the protests that took place two nights in a row at police stations in Minneapolis. From their social networks they have expressed their anger and outrage at the racist and systematic police abuse of this American institution.

JK Rowling publishes The Ickabog, a tale for confined children, for free online

Not all this week has been bad or painful news. The author of the Harry Potter saga, for example, has had a gesture of love with her younger followers. She published the first two chapters of The Ickabog, a story she wrote over ten years ago for her children and that she rewrote during quarantine for children who are still locked up in their homes. She will publish it in installments. It is free and is in the link of her twitter account. The first two chapters are already available.

Although the deal has not closed, sources close to this production told Variety that Apple will be one of the main funders of the new Martin Scorsese production. Paramount Studios will still be the distributors of the feature film, but Apple will be its main funder and the production will have its signature. It is an adaptation of the book "Killers of a Flower Moon", which recounts the beginnings of the FBI. Thus, it will be a crime drama directed by Scorsese and starring his faithful actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
