Pokémon Go was one of the titles that truly revolutionized the community of those who grew up with the animated series . Launched in 2016, many people were truly excited to be able to virtually live the world of these magical creatures, and it has retained its success to date.

This can be demonstrated in that, even almost 4 years after its release, it continues to receive updates . According to what the specialized media HobbyConsolas mentions, throughout this month we will see some appearances of legendary pokémon, missions to face Team GO Rocket and different events of capture and combat.

All this is achieved using virtual reality with the camera of your device, so you can see different wild creatures, complete the PokéDex and become a true Pokémon Master. Knowing that this title is more valid than ever, we decided to make a top 5 of the best games in the series, to make a historical review of all its releases.

5. Pokémon Sword and Shield (2019)

This is the latest RPG for Nintendo Switch from the company Game Freak, which is in charge of the production of these titles for Nintendo. In this case, we talk about a title that, according to what the Hypertextual site says, is intended for those veteran players who have followed the franchise from the beginning.

Here we can have a different setting than what happened in other titles, with places similar to the United Kingdom. In addition, changes are made at the level of playability, such as the appearance of Aerotaxis to make quick trips or the possibility of changing your equipment without visiting a Pokémon Center . Basically, they simplify some ancient mechanics to adapt it to the demands of the immediacy of today, while retaining its essence.

4. Pokémon GO (2016)

Pokémon GO is a title that differs greatly from all those present in this list. First, it is not a real role-playing game, in which you must complete a predefined adventure, but here users are allowed to live the Pokémon experience in the real world itself.

How is this achieved? So simple: going for a walk through the real places of your location, where you will find different stops or wild creatures, which you can fight or capture. In the same way, you can also fight against the different gym leaders in your area, so that your status as a gym leader increases.

3. Pokémon Fire Red / Leaf Green (2004)

Launched for the Game Boy Advance, this game is a remake of Pokémon Blue and Red, which had been introduced to the market in 1996 for the original Game Boy. Therefore, we are talking about the first generation of these creatures which is considered one of the most mythical and recognizable of the entire saga.

Here we have an update of what we had been able to know in the original versions, although with an improvement in many of its facets. For example, the map includes 9 new islands and Pokémon breeding is added, all with a renewal in terms of graphics that gives it a special touch.

2. Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire (2002)

Here we talk about another one of the titles belonging to the Game Boy Advance, which uses the third generation of the saga as a base. According to the Vandal website, it is a jewel that implied a technical evolution for that moment, causing us to reach the world of Hoenn, where we will face different adventures.

Among some of the novelties, we can find the possibility of using the shoes to run faster, the use of the bicycle for different special scenarios or the Pokémon Contests, where the unique characteristics of our creatures will be valued. All this added to an incredible story, where we will face Team Magma or Team Aqua, depending on the version we have.

1. Pokémon Gold HeartGold / Silver SoulSilver (2009)

This is also a remake of the 2001 game, which was featured in the Game Boy Color. It is the most perfect entry of them all because it keeps all the original content while adding game mechanics that adapt it to modernity.

That is to say, the sprites of the different creatures are adapted to the needs of the Nintendo DS, maintaining the possibility that your first pet will follow you as a character throughout your journey. Similarly, you can talk to it, competing in different events that keep the essence of the game but also add a new refreshing perspective.
