Leer en español: Las 9 películas de Star Wars, analizadas de peor a mejor
With the premiere of Star Wars: Episode IX - The rise of Skywalker, we decided to create a top where we analyzed, from worst to best, all the films in the galactic saga, not including spin-off.
It should be clarified that we will only take into account the nine installments that make up the main arc of the story, to see in what situation we are once the argument of a galaxy far, far away...
What is the order of the 9 Star Wars movies?
9. Star Wars: Episode VII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Let's say one thing: it's not a bad movie at all ... if it wasn't part of the saga universe. In the attempt to give it a new twist and seek originality, this story is loaded with absolutely everything we knew about the galactic universe, even disrespecting it.
Issues of the Force that appear from one moment to the next, decisions of inexplicable characters or a "symbolic" closure, which seem to be the end of the saga, which greatly conditioned the starting point of the ninth installment.
8. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
This is the beginning of everything, although it seems to be more focused on political conflicts than on trying to explain what really matters to us: the story of conversion to the dark side of Anakin Skywalker.
That is, although they show us the life he led as a child and some of the plans that the dark side of the Force drew, it is a wasted opportunity in terms of narrative, which could have helped the next installment not to be so unbelievable.
7. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Let's be fair: if this movie didn't have the last half hour, where the huge battle in the arena or the fight of Obi-Wan, Anakin and Count Dooku happens, it would be the worst in this list. It looks like a "stuffing" movie, especially because of the "forced" love between Anakin and Padmé, which seem not to get too congenital, probably because, in the previous installment, he was still a child.

6. Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
This film has a main problem: to present some protagonists who, at least in their beginnings, failed to captivate the public too much. As it is a saga based entirely on nostalgia, the best moments are those in which iconic characters reappear.
Too much of it is abused, ignoring the most important thing: that people want to know how evil returned to the galaxy after its alleged removal in the sixth installment.
5. Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Although it is being absolutely criticized - in an unfair way -, the reality is that, even with its mistakes, it is a worthy closure with respect to a trilogy that never ended up falling in love with the public.
The fact that the main villain, the evil Palpatine, has moved the threads even after his supposed death, is a sign of the affection with which they tried to treat this film, which seeks to reference all the deliveries of the saga, in addition to trying to clarify all the doubts planted previously.
4. Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)
Let's face it: it was a perfect closure for the Skywalker trilogy. Although the movie does not have the same rhythm as the previous ones, it is a story that ends up redeeming one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema, bringing peace to the entire universe and ending the tyranny of the Empire.
3. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
The movie with which it all started, despite being the fourth installment. This is one that we can see once and a thousand times without getting tired, where we are explained the most important concepts of this universe, such as the Jedi Order, the use of the Force or the state in which the galaxy is located. In addition, of course, the presence of our favorite heroes and villains.
2. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
The best film in the series according to the IMDb rating, which gives it a 8.7. This is a film that has absolutely everything, although what stands out, of course, is the main revelation: Luke Skywalker is the son of Darth Vader, since he did not kill Anakin Skywalker, but is his alter ego.
1.Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Unjustly criticized at the time, it is a peak work that, for the first time, shows us the most bleak panorama of the world composed of The Force. This is a delivery that, over the years, will be better valued, because it brings absolutely the entire history of the "original" movies into connection.
The film perfectly explains the motivations of all the events that will come later, in addition to fixing many disasters of the previous ones. In addition, there are some iconic scenes, such as the more than emotional fight between “brothers” of Obi-Wan and Anakin.
