Skytrax, a British audit dedicated to the analysis and comparison of airports and airlines in the world, published its ranking of the 100 best airports. According to the audit, the best airport in the world is Singapore Changi, highlighted by its infrastructure and operating systems with high-tech controls. The second place is occupied by the Tokyo Haneda airport and the third by Seoul Incheon.
This year, three airports in Latin America managed to enter the ranking. Lima's Jorge Chávez airport scored the best in the region, ranking 47th in the world ranking, thus climbing two places compared to last year. On the other hand, Mariscal Sucre airport in Quito was ranked 49th and Bogotá's El Dorado in the 53rd position. Likewise, El Dorado is located in the fifth position globally among airports where more than 30 million passengers circulate per year, being the only one in Latin America to appear in this ranking. Mariscal Sucre ranks second worldwide at airports that receive less than 5 million passengers per year.

Several perspectives
What this classification takes into account to establish which are the best airports is, in the first place, the opinions registered in surveys that are made to 13 million airport users. These surveys take into account the capacity of the airport, the state of its facilities, the effectiveness of emergency services, and the quality of customer service.
For its part, AirHelp revealed its seventh annual study on airports and airlines this week. In this ranking, the first three positions were occupied by Hamad International Airport in Qatar, Tokyo International Airport in Japan, and Athens International Airport in Greece, respectively.
Similarly, among the top ten positions in this ranking globally, there are two Brazilian airports, being the only country in the region that reached the top 10. The Alfonso Peña airport in Brazil ranks fourth in the ranking and the Viracopos / Campinas airport, also in Brazil, ranks tenth.
Unlike the Skytrax ranking, this ranking takes into account three classification factors, namely the punctual performance, the general quality of the service, and the shopping options including food services. Punctuality has a weight of 60% in the evaluation, while the other two factors have a respective weight of 20%. These data are taken by AirHelp from the perception of commercial providers, their own database, and surveys conducted at 40,000 passengers in 40 countries.
Finally, it should be noted that in both rankings, airports in the United States present particularly poor scores, contrary to what is expected of the modern facilities of these airports. Thus, the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is the only one in the country that ranks in the AirHelp ranking in the 32nd place.
According to Henrik Zillmer, AirHelp's executive director, these low scores are not due to the general quality of the airports, but to the constant delays in flights related to weather conditions, which negatively affect the overall satisfaction of users.
