It had an official presentation at Hunters Point, in New York, in which the player Gareth Bale stressed that "the work they do to help the planet is very important." Parley does a great job to have a better life for all. The team is enjoying the preseason with a desire to start".
It is not the first time that Real Madrid dresses recycled material under the Adidas clothing. The first time was on the 2015-2016 season, according to EFE, the German sportswear company.
The project that was born in 2016, together with Parley, gives rise to the "Parley Ocean Plastic" campaign that is dedicated to the preservation of the oceans and the fight against the dumping of waste. The initiative is part of the Social and Corporate Responsibility policy of the German brand in order to help the environment.
Adidas and the environment
Businesses in the world are changing their relationship with plastic and fashion is no exception. Starbucks plans to eliminate plastic cigarettes from its stores, McDonald's is testing a similar program in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and Ikea will progressively eliminate single-use plastic from its stores and restaurants, according to an article by Deutsche Welle.
The Adidas sports brand, one of the most recognized in the world, seeks to transform the recovered material into high performance sports garments. Its CEO, Kasper Rorsted, told the Financial Times that by 2024 Adidas will only use recycled plastic.
Adidas has already launched the first running shoe made of recycled water bottles in conjunction with Parley. The UltraBOOST Uncaged Parley is made of 95% plastic ocean collected near the Malvidas and the rest is made of other recycled materials making use of 11 bottles to make a pair of shoes.
This Adidas model managed to sell more than one million pairs worldwide, even though its price exceeded $ 200 dollars, said Kasper Rorsted for the BBC. The challenge for Adidas and for many sports brands is polyester which is very popular in the industry for its easy drying and light weight. However, Adidas told the Financial Times that its clothing line for spring and summer of 2019 will contain around 41% recycled polyester.
The German brand that once wore Real Madrid and Bayern Munich recycled material, returns to join the Madrid team demonstrating a mutual support for care and concern for the environment wearing the coral color Bernabéu. Adidas aims for sustainability and with this new uniform becomes one of the largest in the fashion industry that supports the conservation of the environment.
