Surrounded by the intense blue of the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez, the peninsula of Baja California offers the treasures of the Mexican summer
In South America, winter has begun, in the extreme south of the continent the temperatures drop drastically. On the other hand, in North America the summer is just beginning, the best season to enjoy the Mexican beaches in all their splendor. To the north of the country is the so-called Mexican Mediterranean, the name by which the peninsula of Baja California is known, that long "arm" that can be seen from the left side on the map of Mexico. The peninsula is divided into two states: Baja California and Baja California Sur; In the latter one is one of the most attractive destinations of the summer: Los Cabos.

The site Visit Mexico recommends it as one of the best places to vacation because the meeting of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean give it a special climate: we can find deserts, mountains, beaches, and intense blue waters. To get to Los Cabos you can fly to the International Airport of Mexico City and from there take a short flight of two hours to the peninsula; The municipality of Los Cabos is located at the southern end of it. If you are looking for a more intimate and luxurious experience you can fly from Mexico City to the port of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, from where you can take a ferry across the Sea of Cortez.
Of the numerous attractions of the municipality, there are two main ones that can be visited:
San José del Cabo: It is the head of the municipality, so it has historical sites to visit as the religious mission founded since the time of the Spanish conquest. Its historic center jealously guards the beauty of its architecture that offers cafes, restaurants, spa and entertainment centers for all budgets. Being a world class tourist center, it has all the services such as accommodations from cheap to luxury that start from the landing in its impressive marina.

In front of its coasts you can practice surfing, which is one of the most popular activities. Its bright sandy beaches allow the visitor to relax with a unique landscape as a background, which contrasts the golden sand with the blue of the sea. You can walk through different routes by boat in which you can see the natural wealth formed by different kinds of birds and the famous gray whales that come from the north of the continent every year to reproduce.
Cabo San Lucas: this has become one of the main tourism centers of Mexico. It has beaches of all kinds, although it is world famous for the arch that is in the sea, which forms the most classic postcard of the site, especially when visited by whales. It offers the best hotels and among the activities that can be done is the fishing that has several of the biggest tournaments in the world. This is where you can taste the exquisite Merlin, a common fish in the region, which is why it is known as the Merlin Capital of the World.
Food from Baja California stands out for its freshness and its ingredients, using delicious fish and vegetables typical of the, as well as wines produced in the same peninsula. You cannot leave without trying the chorizos, tacos, bread, lobster, salads, beers, and all the typical dishes. The nightlife is intense, as is the day: you will not have to search for activities, and you will not have time to do them, so you'll want to go back.
