When Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin presented his latest album in Bogota entitled “A Quien Quiera Escuchar,” he said he was very interested in recording a disc with Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes.

The artist, who performed with the Menudo boy band back in the 1980s, said that at one time he told Juanes he’d like to “get together in a recording studio and do a production” after he finished his new album, which he recorded under the Sony Music label.

Ricky Martin, who in 1999 sang in the video of the song “Bella” with Colombia’s Shakira, gave no further details about the Juanes project.

His new album, launched in February and which includes 10 numbers that he recorded with artists like Pedro Capo, Yotuel Romero, Beatriz Luengo, David Julca and others, will be the basis of a concert tour of Colombia next July.

The singer was visibly excited about the music video of his latest single “La Mordidita” to be shot in the Caribbean city of Cartagena and directed by filmmaker Simon Brand, with whom he has worked on other projects.

“Simon convinced me to work in Cartagena. I’ve never been there, but I think it will be a beautiful thing to show the city to the world on a music video,” he told a press conference.

He said the video he makes in Cartagena “could be the start of something big” in his relations with Colombia.

The artist, who has not visited Colombia for 10 years, will go this Saturday to one of the country’s leading supermarkets, which is marketing his disc, for an autograph and photo session with his fans.
