Began drawing and painting as an adolescent and continued to create art under David Manzur (Bogotá) and Berino (Paris). His formal education consists of a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from L`Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratives in Paris.

Rickenmann's recent series "Sunday" and "Slow burning" are the cool abstraction , almost surreal, of the visible world, despite the presence of furniture tools and implements that evidence human activity. To a remarkable degree, these paintings are removed from life and temporary reality. Both natural and manufactured elements are reduced to those required to create a formal abstraction with the leat possible interference..Rickenmann's work can be found in public and private collections in the United States, France, Belgium Swisserland and Colombia.
His unique method of melding representational subject matter with an abstract sensibility creates works characterized by broad planes of color and form set against clearly defined compositions which emphasize the two dimensional picture plane.
