Luis Ricardo Castillo´s work could border between light semi
abstract to diffused adjusted abstract. The style of work would have to
be abstract in the form of adjusted diffusion, color fusion and tonal
balance, connected by line and color reflection balance. These metamorphic-like
forms are surrounded in both limited space as in a closed room, and unlimited
free space, as in infinity.
Ricardo Castilla , an artist from Bogotà, who uses simple shapes
. oriented towards representation of the object with a chromatic intensity
that projects it to a space of poetic atmosphere where we seem to observe
that certain serenity that characterizes his art
.
It is the conjugation of these simple elements that have made Ricardo
Castillos contribution to the visual arts in Colombia, one of the
most imaginative of all , the nature of pigment, and shifting perspective.
The paint texture is palpable and thin lines dart across and rupture the
solid ground. Castillo often begins with a simple object or area.
In his series "Chairs, couplings and other ways of dwelling"
the simple becomes more and more complex to convey energy and movement
through the optical vibration of light on static forms. Castillo uses
a vocabulary of simple reductive forms to create works with a strong and
direct physical presence.
He was invited by the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art (Mambo) to the
Mambo Spring, an exhibit of the most important Colombian artists.
